We now have lots and lots of delicious peaches ripening! This week we will be picking Topaz, Redglobe and Contender. All yellow freestones.
Also will be picking good quantities of White Lady, the white sub-acid peach variety so many of you have been asking for. These peaches are great for eating fresh. Not so good for cooking.
We are now picking good quantities of sweet delicious Sun Glo nectarines. The size of both nectarine and peaches is improving rapidly with the recent rains.
Methley plums are now at the peak of ripeness. We are just starting to pick Ozark Premier plums.
Still are picking some blackberries and have good supply of excellent blueberries from the Happy Berry Farm.
Took off the honey from our bees last week. Now have it all extracted from the comb and being filtered (three step) to remove particles of beeswax from the comb.
Honey now has to set for a week to 10 days to allow entrapped air bubbles to rise to the top and disappear. The bees produced considerably more honey then we expected. Mr. Black Bear, so far, has not penetrated the electric-fence-enclosed left side area or the extensive barbed-wire-enclosed right side area.
Now have made and have for sale these FANCY fresh fruit preserves: Blackberry, Black Raspberry, Royalty Purple Raspberry, Peach, Nectarine and this week will make Plum. Also a good supply of Betty's famous Georgia country catsup. Fantastic for eating on southern vegetables!
Many keep asking about Figs--fresh and preserves. Checked them today. Believe ripening is still a couple weeks away. The bushes are loaded with small figs. Believe we will be able to make several batches of preserves this year!
Please come see us real soon!
