Still picking lots and lots of great peaches! This week we are picking Contender, Loring, White Lady Sub-Acid and Georgia Belles.
Also three varieties of delicious Nectarines.
We are now picking Ozark Premier Plums. Believe we should probably be calling them prune-plums. To me, their texture and flavor is much more like a Stanley Prune than a plum. If you like to eat prunes, you need to come try them. Maybe try to make a prune cake with them.
Still have two true plum varieties to ripen. The prune trees have a good crop of fruit on them. Will probably be three more weeks before we can pick.
We will have Blackberries for about two more weeks and Blueberries for about three more weeks.
The amount of Honey made by our bees is much larger than expected. Have completed extraction and filtering of this year's harvest. We're now bottling and have for sale.
Now have good variety of Canebrake Farms excellent acidified vegetables.
Our fresh fancy fruit preserves contain 50% fresh fruit grown on our farm and we use only pure cane sugar. Most commercial preserves contain only 35% fruit, probably frozen and often imported, along with high fructose corn syrup. In addition to Blackberry and Raspberry Preserves, we have now made Peach, Nectarine and Plum Preserves.
With this week's rains, believe we will start picking fresh Figs next week. Will probably not have enough to make preserves for two more weeks.
Look forward to seeing you real soon!
