This is the last week for Peaches, Plums and Prunes this season.
We have our best crop ever of Asian Pear Apples - sweet, juicy, excellent sizes and quality!
Now picking lots of big juicy black Supreme Muscadines. Come and get them!
Now about our apple season. Mentioned in previous update that our crop had been heavily damaged by Mother Nature. So much so we considered going to greatly reduced retailing days or even closing for season after peaches were over.
We have never obtained apples from any anyone else. But often as a result of adversity good things happen. After thinking about our customers and letting them down, called NCSU extension agent in Henderson county, NC, and asked him about apple growers who might be growing apple varieties we want and that harvest to our quality specs. With his help we are now obtaining high quality apples to supplement our crop.
Now have Ginger Golds, Galas, Jonagolds, and Empires. The quality of the Empires is excellent; and we can hardly grow them down here.
Have already made Apple Butter. Will be making Fresh Apple Sauce by Thursday of next week and Fresh Apple Cider by Friday of next week.
Still making more Fig Preserves and have good inventory of other processed products.
So with a little extra thought and effort, out of adversity good things can really happen!
Come see us real soon!
